OUR STORY
Like all great stories, ORR MADE began as a love story.
Matt and Rhiannon's journey intertwined when they met through mutual friends. Matt, a qualified carpenter was on the cusp of embarking on a 3.5-year adventure in London, while Rhiannon had just graduated from Interior Design school. Despite the distance, they stayed connected, and fate finally brought them together for their first official date on the very day Matt returned home to Melbourne. Their passion for adventure, property and aligned ambitions cultivated their deep bond.
Over the years, while Matt and Rhiannon pursued their individual paths in the Design and Build industries, they never lost sight of their shared aspirations. Immersed in their respective roles at leading companies, they continued to refine their skills and deepen their expertise.
With their profound appreciation for considered design and impeccable craftsmanship, they often found themselves deep in late-night conversations over glasses of red wine, weaving dreams of collaboration. Fast forward seven years, filled with globe-trotting escapades, personal renovation successes, and the joy of welcoming their first son into the world, their inaugural project materialized when friends approached them to collaborate on their Donvale property. And thus, Design Orr Build was born.
In 2021, seizing the opportunity to complete a new build in Far North Queensland for a previous Melbourne client, they packed up their family and began a new adventure. Like their long-standing industry relationships across Victoria, they have built a repertoire of brilliant constructors, suppliers, and clients in the tropics they now call home.
We are about living before building; our homes are centred around life within the space. By carefully considering the flow of the home, we work to create effortlessly easy living.

ABOUT RHIANNON
My appreciation for the power an interior can have on your state of being started at a young age. The feeling you can get just by walking into a space fascinated me. The interior of a home would have an immediate and immersive impact about the way I would feel within the space and how I observed others behaving within it.
With no doubt about where my interests lay, I went straight into design studies from school which eventually led me to working with leading Melbourne-based interior design studio Hecker Guthrie. In 2014, Matt and I were approached to complete the design and the build (end-to-end service) of a large residential project, and so Orr Made was born.
My passion for creating spaces that exude a desired feeling is still the driver for all designs, and I equally love how a home has the capacity to uniquely become an expression of style and story.
Rhiannon Orr is a registered and accredited interior designer and a member of the Design Institute of Australia (DIA) and Building Design Queensland (BDQ)
ABOUT MATT
I’m honoured and humbled by every project I work on because each comes with the opportunity to foster new relationships as I work collaboratively with clients to create and improve their properties. All builds come with their unexpected challenges, however it’s how it is remedied that sets a good builder apart.
Being mentored by a builder who embraced old-school high-quality craftsmanship, I put as much attention into the bones of a project as I do the finishing details. And with 22+ years of project managing and carpentry experience across Queensland, Melbourne and London’s residential and commercial settings, I have a dedicated appreciation for quality finishings.
Our team is full of knowledge, and we’ll guide you through every step of the process. We’re all in, always. We love producing experiences for our clients that cater to the way one wants to entertain, tinker, and retreat through builds that are built with purpose.
Matt Orr is a Registered Unlimited and Open Builder in both Queensland and Victoria, and a longstanding member of the Housing Industry Association (HIA) and Master Builders.
