Vastu on Oak

We were approached by our past client to collaborate on a new build based on Maharishi Vastu in Far North Queensland. After years of sourcing the land, in 2021 they purchased 2 adjoining lots in Oak Beach that were suited for the orientation required.

Vastu is an ancient Indian science of architecture and building design that translates to the "science of architecture." Rooted in Indian Vedic traditions, it incorporates principles, some of which include the orientation of the building, location of rooms, proportion of rooms, natural light and ventilation, and materials use.

The primary aim of Vastu is to harmonize the natural elements, ensuring a balanced flow of energy (prana) in homes which contribute to the overall harmony, well-being and prosperity of its occupants.

With Vastu on Oak, we were able to apply this ancient practice, adapted into a modern architecture and interior design approach. Resulting in the spaces being aesthetically pleasing but also energetically balanced. All the while being built in the demanding tropical climate of Far North Queensland, requiring a high category of Cyclone standards.

This project presented a truly collaborative design process, involving intricate detail and communication between the client, Maharishi Vastu Consultants, Building Designer, Interior Designer and Builder.
