Having worked with this client previously on their Melbourne home and their company head office, we came into the project understanding their aesthetic and what they value in terms of form or function in their home.
It was of vital importance that the house, both the architecture and interiors, blend with the duney landscape of the surroundings. The furniture direction was entirely driven by the goal of bringing a sense of calm and physical comfort through the selections. Rachcoff Vella did an incredible job of framing the surrounds through clever and abundant window placement, meaning we wanted the eye to run over the top of furniture to allow for unobstructed views. This was achieved through heavy, lowline furniture in earthy tones. The property’s proximity to the ocean and large expanses of glazing informed materials selections that could hold up the elements.
The client had a great interest in art and having already assisted in the sourcing for their main residence in Melbourne, it was clear what gaps or opportunities were in their collections. They also loved knowing that they could rotate pieces as they desired.
