Our Beaumaris client engaged Orr Made to complete a renovation and extension to their family home over two stages. Because of their appreciation for natural materials, travertine, set against walnut timber veneer, was selected for floors and walls throughout the bathrooms. The solid stone basins were sourced as one offs and paired with brushed copper tapware.
The earlier stage of the project included the kitchen and rear extension for a second living space, where the change of spatial layout allowed for better flow and connectivity between the front and rear living zones. The kitchen comprises 2Pac joinery and Made Measure leather joinery pulls, with refinished existing timber floors throughout.
The clients’ main issues prior to engaging us were that, while the house was large in footprint, there was a disconnect in flow between the front and rear living zones–formal vs. informal–with no clear definition to the spaces or differentiation in their use.
By adding the rear extension to create an additional living zone and reconfiguring the kitchen layout, we were able to design and furnish the space to have two very different feels and ultimately two different purposes for use.
