A personal project of Directors Matt and Rhiannon, this home was sympathetically restored to become their coastal family home.
Built in 1960 for the local headmaster, this home sat proudly on a double block amidst paddocks and overlooking the Chinamans Creek. When they took possession, the house was uninhabitable. An extensive renovation was undertaken to salvage as much of the fixtures and features of the original build as possible. This also provided an opportunity to enhance the layout and efficiency of the house.
In opening some internal spaces, a dining room was included, which gave an opportunity to increase the natural light throughout the living zones and create a flowing connection from the front to the rear yards. Asbestos roofing and walls were removed and replaced with newly eco-insulated walls and ceilings.

A detached rear dwelling was built to house two studio bedrooms with an adjoining ensuite for friends and family to stay.
The gardens were all fully landscaped with mostly new indigenous plants, which surround the entertaining decks, sun lounge deck, and outdoor shower. This house serves both as a place to retreat and a place to gather and entertain.
